How to Use YouTube to Help Your Small Business Grow

It seems that everyone in the world has made a YouTube video. Sometimes, these videos show cute kids and animals to send to friends and relatives. The most successful YouTube videos, however, feature a business’s services or products in a professional manner. Best of all, these business ads can be top quality and made for a song.

Why YouTube?

If you optimize your SEO keywords and have a product or service people want, your customers will actively seek your videos. In fact, video works so well that 81 percent of businesses use video as a marketing tool.

What Kinds of Videos?

You can choose to explain your product, train your customers on its use, hold a webinar for business services, or even promote contests and giveaways. For example, doTERRA’s YouTube page has a lot of information about their products, but also about events, guides, and information about holistic health as a whole. The cost of production and posting videos is so inexpensive that you can offer the entire range for less money than one newspaper advertisement.

Who Should Be the Star and Producer?

Many entrepreneurs cast themselves as the presenter in their YouTube videos and do very well. For example, Noah Kagan’s YouTube page is a very good example of what a successful entrepreneur channel looks like, and he stars in the videos. Others perhaps realize that their talents lie in other areas. If you aren’t comfortable as an infomercial superstar, there’s no reason why you have to be the explainer-in-chief. The cost of a local actor can pay for itself. If you spend money on one thing for your YouTube videos, it should be for an experienced and talented producer. They need to know how to light the studio so that the demonstration and product show up in the best way possible. Many of those new to YouTube try to inform and market literally in the dark. Viewers quickly turn to a new video and never return. Remember, you only get one chance to make a first impression. Make sure your YouTube video looks and sounds good enough that viewers not only buy but upvote your video.

YouTube is a new kind of marketing tool for business, and it will take some time and experimentation to find the right formula for success. Video has a great return when done properly. By planning your entire campaign and making sure that every video is the best you can make it, there’s no reason to fear the camera.
